Yesterday I was pleasantly surprised to see one of my favorite Japanese political comedians Seyarogai Ojisan make an appearance on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. In a segment on how insane it is that the Tokyo Olympics will be held despite the pandemic, John showed a clip of Seyarogai Ojisan doing his usual comedic rant (this time in English!) on an Okinawa beach. I’m been meaning to write an article or two about Seyarogai Ojisan. His uniquely gentle comedic rants about social and political issues on YouTube are must viewing. For now, enjoy John Oliver going over the depressing situation Japan finds itself in before he gets to Seyarogai Ojisan.
